I was trying to figure out how to connect the ARGB fans in the front of the Cooler Master TD500 Mesh case. I have a Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite AX (revision 1.0) motherboard.
There is a cable that combines the 3 fans and has an output for the ARGB connector, but there is a 3 and a 4 pin cable. The 3 pin cable is labelled Gigabyte, while the other 4 pin cable is labelled “ASRock Asus MSI”.
The Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite AX onboard controller actually has a 4 pin ARGB. Apparently you can break things if you plug the wrong cables in, so I was a bit suspect.
After trying the Gigabyte label, the RGB Fusion software from Gigabyte would not work correctly to control the light settings correctly. Some colours would look correct, while others looked wacky. The included ARGB Controller box with physical button mode switcher would work fine, so I knew the fans were capable of normal colours.
So I tried again and did some more research and it seems the 4 pin connector was the one that I wanted. After switching to the 4 pin, RGB Fusion works correctly.
So perhaps Gigabyte switched ARGB standards at some point. I have now ripped off the Gigabyte label on the 3 pin connector and can move onto other life problems ;)
I had some problems with the Logitech MX Master 3S Mouse with an M1 MacBook Pro, but I had better luck with a Logitech G502 X Mouse
